13th April 2005

Our little word for this birthday, and before the gift...

Already 3 years... Time flies even more than we have time to do it ourselves. The last big birthday celebrations was in 2003, and this one.

In this last year, the biggest revolution was the lipoly democratization, of course with the advance in outrunner motors and excellent new planes.

Electron tried to cope with this high speed of progress publishing reviews and articles, along the way, and with the help of many other hobbyist around the globe. This new year was real fun and the new technologies and progress in material promises us a lot more coming fun.

To start, and of course, VERY special thanks to:

  • All my local Flying Friends as they provide most of the content for Electron. Just wish they would crash their planes more often to make more interesting videos :)
  • Worldwide Hobbyist who share the same fun and with who we correspond time to time, just for fun, and to share projects. The world is becoming smaller and smaller, with the internet !
  • The Ezone, as I am not sure how much I would have done in this hobby, without the initial push and also without the on-going fun to share stories on this forum.
  • My friend, Bernard Chevalier, from BungyMania with whom we share lot's of funny stories, ideas and projects that we sometimes build in sync, between our 2 websites.

Now, as any birthday, let's look at what happened good and bad, in this last year, and related to Electron

For the Last Year 2004 to 2005

Best Picture

When we started the article on which plane to recommend as a 1st plane, we did not even think about making such a book of picture for the winner. What happened is I asked my wife to help me on this, and she actually did such a good job, that I think I will use her more for other coming projects :)

Few pictures made for the most recommended plane for a beginner, Q1 2005

Best Video

So difficult to choose, so many ones are fun to watch. So if one needs to be selected, the Rambler Video, with onboard video would be.

Ido Lempert made it and it is really a lot of work, in the editing, and the quality of the video is also very nice. Watching the prop, is pretty neat !

Best Plane

Let it be clear, the best plane I flew...

And this is without any doubt, the Multiplex Magister. Why ? Extremely fun to build, and behaves like a dream, in the air.

Few videos of the Magister to give you some understanding of this Magical plane:

And the Magister Review is also interesting to read

Best new technology

Again, difficult to choose, but I have to say, the lipoly revolution must be the one for this year. Prices went down, choices increased, and opened wide horizons to fly planes in a completely different way we used to.

Most innovative Product

Eagle Tree proposed this amazing device, called the Flight recorder and Seagull. The first one records flight data, pretty much like a real plane Black box, and the second one, shows it to the pilot, on the ground using wireless data from the Flight recorder, to the Seagull. A little piece of amazing concentrated high tech !

Best place to buy from

For me and for everything, apart from planes, Aircraft-world, Japan. Why ? Just the easiest place to shop from.

  • They use Paypal
  • They ship extremely fast (Japan to Israel in 1 week max)
  • Shipping at $2.5 is pretty good
  • No tax, if the package value is below $50 so another advantage, just need to purchase $50 top each time.
  • And Excellent Customer Services

For planes... I don't know what to say. Local LHS are good, Hobby-Lobby, Esprit Model, Modelspot, Tower hobbies are all good reliable places.

Worst Crash video

Wooooo, Looking for it, I almost don't have Crash videos anymore..... What is going on here ....

So the best I could find is this one... Sorry, I will ask the friend here to work harder for next year :)

What about the coming New Year

  1. The first BIG project now is to build a Formation Flight Team, using Electric planes.

Already got 3 people for sure in it, hope to get 5: Odd numbers are better for a formation :)
Plane selected for the Formation: If everything goes according to the plans, the Multiplex TwinStar II

  1. Of course more reviews, articles, Pictures, video and hopefully, new web design

And now.... the Gift

Compilation of the best of, for the last 3 years, of all the videos made and presented on Electron

All videos are streaming at 30kbytes per second, so even modem 56k should be able to view them normally

or devided in 4 sections like

  1. Video Part 1 (13.4 Mb)
  2. Video Part 2 (13.8 Mb)
  3. Video Part 3 (12.1 Mb)
  4. Video Part 4 (11.5Mb)

Hope to see you next year,
